Rare Candy (Japanese: ふしぎなアメ Fushigina Ame) is a item introduced in the Generation I Pokémon series. Rare Candy is a very rare item to find in the Pokémon video game series because of their effect of leveling up a Pokémon by one level up until the final level of a Pokémon, which is level 100.
Effect and secondary effect
The effect of a Rare Candy is that it can raise a Pokémon by one level until it reaches level 100. But in the Generation I and Generation II, a Pokémon above level 100 could level up by using one of the Rare Candies until level 255, but when the player will give another Rare Candy to the Pokémon while the Pokémon is on level 255, the level of a Pokémon will be reverted back to 0. The secondary effect of the Rare Candy is, when a Pokémon is fainted and a Rare Candy is used, the Pokémon will be revived. The reason behind that is because when a Pokémon reaches a level, the Hit Points (HP) will become higher, which can be seen that Rare Candy also heals a Pokémon due to their raise in Hit Points.
